Thanks Joe, everything you say makes sense. I just have to practice it more. I am always afraid of skiing into a gully trap and having to wade out. I have done the slow turning stuff and have felt precariously balanced on the fluff. I need to practice on steeper stuff.
With the snow we are getting, there ought to be plenty of opportunities.

I woke up feeling all kinds of new muscles on Thursday morning...apparently skiing heavy deep snow is a pretty good workout for abs and calves!! Then I went out and did it again to pick up a few face shots that I missed from the day before. The snow must have lightened up a bit the day after the storm, because it was much easier to ski even on my relatively skinny Scratches.
Larry_Trotter: For heavy snow, the steeper the terrain the easier it seems to be to ski it--speed is your friend, because then you can turn and therefore keep something resembling balance. Of course, sometimes the snow decides to catch a ski and point it in the opposite direction, and throws you downhill headfirst...not much you can do about that.
