The morning snow report surprisingly said no new snow and overcast so I eased my way up to the mountain, arriving around 9:30. As I was getting ready, I noticed Chair 7 was stopped. I finished gearing up & saw that Chair 7 was still stopped. A parking lot attendant showed up and started telling people that Chair 7 was broken and that people might want to head up to the upper lodge (all other lifts were running). I opted for the additional exercise and hiked up to the base of Chair 8. Although I don't know what the problem was, Chair 7 apparently re-opened after an hour or so.
On the way up, I stopped and watched the ski patrol download people off of the stopped chairs. Crazy. The weather was mostly bluebird with some more menacing clouds near Mt Baker. As for the snow, there still was enough of the 4" from Friday still around so conditions were even better than I was expecting. And no crowds.
