When we (Nick-BC, Ontario Peter and Telemon) left Canada during the morning hours of June 22nd, our sole goal was to ski down Mount Adams' South-west Chutes. However, as reported elsewhere, events conspired against us and we settled on a great Mount Adams experience sans the Chutes. Our new mantra became...3 days/3 volcanoes. The close proximity of Mount Hood's Palmer Snowfield to Adams allowed us the possibility of concentrating on tele turns and still have time to be at Rainier's gates the same day.

So we willingly paid our $43.00 US at 9:00AM and skied continuously until closing time. It was the first time for Peter and I: we were not expecting a memorable experience, but the hill was surprisingly firm and hard considering the recent warm temps. True, the bottom third quickly became sticky, but we chose to spend most of the morning doing different lines down to the mid-station. By 11:00 most of the skiers' left section was free of training downhill skiers and my sore, stiff legs had loosened up enough to really git down and fly. 20,000+ vertical feet of teleturns isn't too shabby for a late June morning. There is something to be said about the sensation of skiing in a T-shirt and no pack, with blue skies and a spectacular mountainous backdrop. All and all, a good time was had and #2 volcano was in the book.
