April 20 2006, Mt Hood Meadows was created by Jeff Huber
Thursday we went to Mt Hood Meadows. Tickets are $25 if you show a season pass from another resort. The day’s forecast was mostly cloudy, but the weather was sunny almost all day except for some neat looking lenticulars over the summit and clouds developing towards the end of our day.

We started the day with several runs in mid Heather. For the most part the snow was very spring like and friendly; though there were a few spots were snow had been replaced with glue in the Heather runout. The glue got more prolific as the day went on. We then skied a run in upper Heather. Jonathan demonstrating Sasquatch jumping technique:

We did the hike above Azone to ski the Superbowl chutes. We did the first main wide chute. Here’s looking down it with Jonathan inside. This was really fun to ski:

We were going to skin up to ski Superbowl proper, but we somehow ended up in the snowcat which took us to 8400’. It’s suppose to go to 9000’ but a portion of the road they couldn’t get up. The snow in the upper superbowl apron was excellent; some of the best snow of the past two days. Jonathan:

Looks like a great time Jeff. Thinking about heading up there for the weekend............I heard the cat is operating above Heather for an add'l 10 bucks. May have to check into that before the spring hiking season gets into full swing......... ;)
