Whistler Dec 31-JAn 2<br>Wife talked me into a new year trip to whistler. I was skeptidal about leaving behind the Local mt's but we were rewarded with 3 days of unreal skiing. Sat was all about the blackcomb glacier, we made laps out there from the t bar and had top to bottom powder. Sun reported 14cm new on top of the 14cm from sat. Even though the winds produced whiteout condtions on the top of harmony chair once you found your way into the bowls the snow was killer. Mon 30 cm new and blue skies. LIft lines were a bummer but the skiing was awesome. Watched some crazies dropping huge airs off the peak chair. One guy dropped and easy 80 footer and augered in so deep he dissappeared and had to be exticated.scary. Nice rebound from dec rains.

Actually, those guys who jump off the big cliffs are the chosen method of avalanche control by the Whistler/Blackcomb Ski Patrol. The Ski Patrol checks the local bars the night before a big dump and picks the drunkest bomber to complete the task. Yes, a good rebound from December rain. Thanks for the northern report.
