Not exactly lift-served, not exactly BC, but for those of you with XC gear who are tired of thrashing your touring skis in this meager season and need a workout on snow, the Stevens Pass Nordic Center track is in perfect condition right now all the way to the restrooms at the bottom of the SC chair (they weren't open, though). Good coverage, perfect packed-powder conditions, no one there mid-week (they're closed, but no obstacles to driving in and skiing, you just can't use the very top parking lot). Mike, the director, said he'll be in the lodge every day anyway, will rent you gear if you pay with plastic. Skating is good practice for staying centered on your skis and the best cardio workout there is . . . when I get back on my F1's after a period on skate skis, they feel hugely powerful.
