What altitude was snow line? Or alternately, how many miles did you walk on road before reaching the summer TH?
Looks super good. Coverage really is all-time for late May. I'm glad that my beta was useful!
Saw the reid from lolo pass the other day, very filled in. In my experience spring is a terrible time for leuthold's, given the runnel in the hourglass, but if you send it and it's smooth, l...
Tools not jewels.
Rando commando... I like it.And yes, I was moving.
Ah, good to see someone else getting after it in Iceland. So much potential, and such a nice place to be at that time of year. I'm so glad you guys had a good trip. The photos of skiing with fjor...
All that damn training weight.
It was not. Wish I could claim that.
Runcle, if you read my blog or most recent TR here, you'll see that I've got that one on lock.

I mean that they charge for permits and monitor climber use much more closely. Likewise, NW forest passes are heavily enforced at the trailhead, and wilderness permits are checked on-hill as well.
That does sound pretty great. We didn't have good weather to get up high, so maybe I'll head back there when the road to jack lake improves to take a look at the east side.
author=Winter link=topic=35571.msg145966#msg145966 date=1454632274]I think the "cool kids vs Meadows crowd" frame - "two distinct user groups" - isn't too helpful. If folks a...
This discussion really took off while I was away.I wasn't saying that we should be greedy and hide our ski spots. I was suggesting that posting a road map to them on the internet is not how that...
Definitely not the place to go if you want to avoid Bozos. Overheard there on Saturday: "Yeah man, the best thing about this place is that it's pretty much always safe". Not 20 minutes...

Astute obs, but you'll notice there's not location identification going on there :-). Also, I think most people don't look in my instagram for ski touring info. At least, I hope they do...
Too many posts like this and the Meadows area crowds will be here too.
Or, update the site.
Yeah sure, just shoot me an email through my website contact form (keeps the spam down)
Yeah, winch cats are perhaps the greatest hazard to skiing a resort during off-hours. Skiing near a winch cat is perhaps also the best way to endanger uphill access, as the presence of public near a w...

We saw your tracks while out today. With scoured lee slopes and intimidatingly widespread wind-loading we saw no reason to travel into little zigzag canyon.I think the location that you're referr...
I repeat: please submit observations to NWAC. It's easy and its more useful than doing it here. And to be clear: it doesn't matter your experience level. Write what you see.
Please submit these observations to NWAC so that they can be used for forecasting.http://www.wwu.edu/huxley/spatial/maps/nwac/
That's the region we were in the day prior. I was nearby on Sunday the conditions had changed drastically. There was an unsupportable crust with some saturation of the near-surface snow where we...
