Washington Pass Spire Gully

I skied this Friday morning in memory of my nephew Matthew, who was a much better skier than me!  (So I'm calling it Matthew's Couloir.)  Booted up to Blue Lake Col, crossing a tiny patch of rock at the top of the couloir and saying "hi" to the obligatory goat.  No problems with the cornice.  Took a nice early lunch break at the col.  A group showed up to ski the Birthday Tour but it was getting a bit gloppy, so I stuck with my original plan and headed back down the couloir.  Conditions had seemed a bit messy on the ascent, but it actually skied quite nicely!  I was able to ski to my car door.  And Matthew would have loved it.
