Tilly Jane/Pollalie Creek canyon 1/4/09

Altahoe and Jmac met akrefugee at the Rosauers parking lot in the Hood. Plan was to meet Trevor at Tilly Jane trailhead and head up through the burn. Uphill slog to the hut of which there are pictures made it an uneventful trip up. We got to know eachother since this was our first TAY meeting for this group. Had lunch at the hut, then  moved up the ridge to an area that just looked too good to resist. Dug a pit and there seemed to be 2 definite layers of hoar, one of which was consolidated. The other was sitting below a new deep layer of what has fallen lately and since, I think, the temps have been consistent it it sitting well. This was @ about 6900 feet. The pit was on a slope facing sse. The snow was friggin' awesome, really. 2 skinned up for another run then Akrefugee and altahoe saw the weather turn and decided to wait the next run then we turned back. That's when my one skin refused to stick to my ski and I lost a basket from one pole, that made the slog back out on the road real sucky. All in all a good intro to a bunch of TAY newbies representing the North Oregon Cascades. Stoked to have met new friends and do it again.
