I have wanted to do this in-out tour for quite a few years, conditions finally met my schedule.
Left the truck at the 123-Chinook junction. Traversed on a dead bearing to Governor Ridge and over down to Owyhigh Lakes, then up to Tamanos.
The ski/snow penetration was only about an inch for most of the tour, sometimes a little slick on the skinning, but mostly good. There were old sluffs, but nothing but one small granular creeper down Tamanos chute seen all day.
The downhill sections on the out portions were slightly frozen. I saw from Governor what looked like two ski tracks coming out of Tamanos Chute. My goal was to ski Tamanos Chute and I hate to be a copy cat, but that was my goal.
Brought enough water to get to Owyhigh Lake, got water there on the way up Tamanos and back to reduce weight.
Did see evidence of older skin tracks to the summit of Tamanos and two very nice sets tracks down the main chute.
The views from Tamanos are spectacular on a clear day like today, reminds me of the views from Sun Top or Shriner Peak.
Geared up, had some concerns that the North Chute may be frozen. Dropped in anyways,  perfect corn for 1300vf to the valley floor.
Retraced tracks out, the heat was exceptionally hot (whew) for the 1000ft exit to Governor.
Great ski back as Governors shadows made the snow faster, it was beginning to set up.
GPS totals 13 miles RT-5600vf-8hrs
Recommended trip for those who are in good shape, it tired me out.
There are other approaches, to Tamanos, but a lot less sights.
Heard a howling dog, really going to town. Finally, spotted the culprit, it was a fox. When I howled back to took off up Governors ridge.
1st Pic of Tamanos Chute, 2nd pic-I did my best to match the tracks coming out of the chute. 3rd Governor Ridge from Tamanos.

I was hoping for a picture of you howling... ;)  Nice bit o' vert for a day!  That looks like a nice tour!  Nice work!

Very nice Joe. If it tired YOU out it must have been a strenuous tour. That chute looks great.

Nice work. Ive always wanted to head that way from 123 and your lines look like art work on the mountain canvas.

Joe,  saw your tracks coming down to Cayuse Pass Sunday as we drove home.  Funny you mention Shriner's views as we were there Sunday, and went all the way east to Cougar Sat, both from Deer Crk at Hwy 123.  I'll see if I can get something up tonight; very spectacular view day!  8)

Great trip Joe.  I am back in hiking land and haven't had the energy to ski, but I am really sorry now that we didn't connect for this one.  Looks excellent.  Thanks for the pics.
