A hankering for September turns led Dave K. and me to forage for leftover corn from Silas' powder fest last weekend. Evening commitments in Seattle forced an early turnaround at ~8300' and before the corn had really gotten a chance to roast. We skied the big patch above Pebble Creek (~800'+ in a continuous shot) before ambling our way home. The snowfield above ~9.5k or so looked pretty grim, though perhaps another TAYer (there were a few folks on sliding gear about) can chime in about conditions up higher. Surprisingly good conditions for September. Good dirty corn will probably persist for at least a few more days atop the suncups. Beautiful mountain, meadows, and waterfalls.

T'was the first September turns for both of us. I finally ticked month 12, having missed last September with a gimpy knee.

I'll pass on some beta, trumpetsailor without bothering to post on a separate subject - sorry. We too thought the upper Muir looked a little gnarly although not as bad as a typical September. We skied the Paradise and found it to be quite good - smooth and buttery corn in spots. Crevasses are out but can cross and /or end run all - stay skiers left at the snout.
