Roosevelt and Wright Peak Sat 17

An hour later than planned due to my bad parking suggestion for Paul we headed out to Snow Lake with the intention of skiing Wright Mtn, I actually just wanted some recon photos of the Wildcat Lakes, and Preacher Mtn area that PeteA introduced via his report a few weeks ago, and it was a mellow tour with variable conditions and a good way to get to know Paul. Snow lake trail was crusty, the ski down to the lake was breakable crust. But, going up to the saddle between Wright and Roosevelt things softened up. We abondoned the idea of skiing Wright because the shade of trees was not helping soften the snow, and Roosevelt offered some more appealing slopes, and the pass between the two we stopped at offered a nice veiw, and future ski, down to Lower Wildcat. I am convinced that the Preacher Mtns, could go in a long day with a full moon. Skiing back out down the shoulder of Chair to Source lake was the same soft, kind of gloppy, but fun in a way snow we found on Roosevelt.

We did witness some rather large slides that came off of Chair and Bryan, not slabs, just the dark rock surface heating and shedding large amounts of snow, I am sure it got more spectacular as the day is still warming. I hope everyone can keep out of their way, there were alot of people out today enjoying the sun.
