An unexpected great day on Pilchuck today! Cassidy, Aaron, and I went in with very low expectations and both the snow and the weather exceeded them!

The road is still gated at Heather Lake TH so we walked past the uniquely-extreme gate+boulders+concrete barriers blockade (why?) and up the road. Bikes next time, for sure! There were just a couple of small patches of 4" of snow on the road up near the Pilchuck TH. We had to carry for under 10 minutes past the TH and then it was skinning on not terrible but pretty sloppy sun cups. The sun came out in little bits and we had quite good visibility the majority of the day!

The Gunsight skiied really well other than POLLEN but skiers 2 and 3 didn't have to deal with that too much, there. Boot pen throughout the day was 2-4" with a few very localized spots double that. Everything else skiied still pretty well (especially with good speed). It didn't start drizzling on us until we were back walking the road down. Yep, bikes would've been key...

A great day. It was so nice to be out. And Aaron spotted a booty banana in the parking lot -- it was delicious.

A surprisingly wonderful day on the skis! Happy to get out there.

Wish they would reconsider the gate policy for Pilchuck to get it open earlier. Believe the reason they are so strict on this one is the high traffic and amount of rescues performed early season? Pollen is out in force around the Mtn loop
