Just a brief conditions/access note for MNRP Paradise cause I miss skiing volcanoes and posting on TAY now that I don’t live in the PNW anymore.

No fees were being collected at the gate apparently due to shutdown and/or furloughs. Gate at Longmire opened shortly after 9.

Snowtel was showing about 6” of snow lost to rain during previous days. Slippery and icy snow surface on arrival but softened fast with the sun and warm temps.

One could skin from the parking lot if they really wanted to but seemed easier to just walk the first little stretch up and left till around the corner and across the creek. All of the Pan Face options had discontinuous snow cover near the top, we stayed left towards the Pebble Creek summer trail side which required two small skis-off rock crossings… I’m guessing the other option towards the Pan Point outhouse had more discontinuities, but I didn’t get a good look. But generally once above ~7,200’ it was nicely filled in and smooth all the way to Muir.

It was hard to even hang out at Muir with a thick coat of clear water ice on everything - place was like an ice skating rink. But ski conditions were outstanding from the hut to the car. Some type of corn with butter 🌽 🧈. ¿Elote?

tail lifting conditions, looks like

everything but the elote 😂

Way to go! Love that part of the mountain when it's like that and nobody around!
