Met up with Charles for some turns on the Muir snowfields. Weather was excellent. We started skinning at 7400ft all the way till Camp Muir. To tease us there was a helicopter that made one trip after another, to and from Camp Muir. Our luck, by the time we arrived the copter was gone for break or something. Over all the snow was killer! From Camp Muir to top of Moon Rocks was slightly wind effected and variable. Nice deep pockets to carve into but overall 1-4 inches of sun baked goodness and crust over a surface with boobie traps. From top of Moon Rocks to the only short carry around 8200ft, snow could be described as the best. Couple inches on top of the smoothest surface. Btw mother natures terrain park is still open but snow was mank near those areas. The rest of the run down to 7400ft started off with an inch or so on smooth glacial ice. At the bottom of the hill there will be some cracks and depressions to deal with. The sagging snow bridge we used on our way up was still good for the ride down. The rest was dust on ice. Back at the parking lot you could see the lines that Charles and I had left. If the weather holds tomorrow it should be another excellent day!
Eric wanted me to post a photo showing how smooth the best part was, so here's one from the stretch alongside Moon Rocks:

The weather was amazingly nice - hot in places with no breeze, and we never had to put on any extra clothing, even at Camp Muir. Couldn't find any traces of the crevasses on the upper snowfield, and those meltwater channels were only in evidence below the short carry (around 8200 feet). Like Eric says, if the good weather holds for tomorrow, you're not likely to be sorry if you go.
