Another trip to the office. Road 4315 is not closed yet, so I drove to about 2700 feet and started skiing there. Skinned up in the fog to my usual campsite, which stayed in the fog the entire time. Daytime temps there only up to 26 deg. Left the tent yesterday at 6 am, with temps steadily dropping to 18 deg. before I cleared the fog near the Snotel site. Above the clouds, it got warmer and warmer as I went up. By ~5800' it was 42 deg and bright sunshine - - and that was before 9 am. A great day to take pics, especially at dawn, just coming out of the fog.
During the last week a lot of the snow below 2800' has melted, but from there to say 5000+ the snowpack hasn't changed much. Higher up the persistent inversion has had an effect, with some bare patches in exposed areas.
