Chinook pass opened this week, so we decided to ski our traditional Naches Loop this Sunday.

It's a soft and easy tour with beautiful views on Rainier, but not this time! The whole area was foggy/rainy/snowy...

There was a layer of fresh snow (2 inches) extremely wet which was unconsolidated and easy to slide on steep areas.

We parked in Tipsoo parking lot and were able to manage a full ski circumnavigation back to the car. It was a good day to practice GPS navigation skills!

Oh man this is so inspiring, but the weather is rain as far as the report extends. BOO rain!

How was coverage?

Coverage is pretty good right now. First time I went to the 'false summit' with skis. Definitively time to grab it!

We ended up going a couple days ago, was surprised how good coverage was!  Had a couple great runs off the Naches peak false summit and also the short couloir off the back side of Yakima Pk.  Might have to make one more trip up there.
