Quick TR on the Muir Snowfield + Nisqually Chutes- headed out on the 8th to get the July ski in. Late start around 9.30, so after fighting through the crowds underneath Pan point it was a simple climb with nice weather up to Muir, taking around 3 hours. The Nisqually chute looked enticing on the way up, and proved to be the right move on the way down. The snowfield itself was suncupped up top, with a mushy, dirty surface down low. After some poking around to find the entrance to the Chute itself (this time of year it looks like a blind rollover with open volcanic rock obscuring the path), over 1500ft of amazing steep summer skiing was had. Got a glimpse of a curious goat staring down at us from the ridgeline directly above the Chutes. Managed to ski down to the climbers route up out of the Pebble creek drainage with only a short climb back up to the main trails. Sadly, it's melting fast, and this was likely the last weekend the route will be skiiable, with big holes and exposed rock for the lower half of the run.
