Mt. Hood: 3k' domesticated snow
It was decidedly un-wild, but the more than 3,000 feet of fantastic skiing made for MUCH better August turns than I expected!!
Before I went, I'd seen that the ski area had Palmer running, so I expected a lot of people...between the skiing and the mountain bike park, the parking lot was insanity!
I carried up to 9300' to a big boulder. I could have gone a bit farther up before the suicidal-looking alleys. Somehow my timing worked out so that I was skiing after they'd stopped running the chair, so I only saw two other skiiers on my descent!
It was fabulous skiing. Soft suncups above the top of the lift, then skiier-groomed snow all the way down to about 6250'.
Cheating? Sorta.... But very enjoyable!
Domesticated corn tastes better. Looks fun. Thanks for the report.
