Looking for solitude and a challenge we headed up to Goode over the long weekend. We took the route from Bridge Creek via the southwest aspect, the 42 mile round trip was exhausting. We camped at 15 miles and made the 5300 ft accent, 11 mile round trip, up to Goode on Sunday. Snow was consistent around 5000 ft, the slope became fairly steep quickly, skinning turned into boot packing and a lot of kicking steps. The snow was prime, corn for a good portion of the ski down. On the other hand the whole area is infested with ticks, so if you are headed out this way just expect to find 20+ ticks crawling around on you 🧐. You may also encounter some bears 🐻

Looking up at the Southwest Couloir that would lead to the summit. The route was out unfortunately to just boot pack up.

There is an easier skinning path behind the south east facing ridge that leads up to the saddle right before the Southwest Couloir. I lost the bet that the direct route was faster 🙂

WOW good trip! That is an awfully long approach. You guys must be tough travelers. I've walked down the slope you skied and wished I had skis. Thanks for the report!

That's a proper walk with the sticks on the back.  Ticks, yikes!

Did you ski the Southwest Couloir itself?  Or just down below it?
