FS rd. 28 is free of snow to Bon Jon pass (3000 ft.) The rd. to the Little Quilcene Trailhead is skiable from about 3500 ft. and trail is snow covered with a few blowdowns from the trailhead (4000 ft. ) to the ridge crest.
I was surprised how nice the views are from this road overlooking the Hood Canal with a clear views of Rainier as well as the Cascades. The first two miles of the approach from the road is mostly north facing and holding the snow pretty well. Impressive views of the south face of Townsend as one crests the rd. I skinned up to the ridgeline through about a foot of powder beyond Sleepy Hollow to about 5000 ft., ran out of time and skied back. The trail is steep in sections and makes for a challenging ski down. Best to leave the skins on for the decent.

Hey Doug,
Thanks for the Beta, another friend was up that way last Sunday, similar report. Was considering that as an option for this weekend, but was recruited to help with an avy course in the Cascades.
