Yesterday was a storm day that took me by surprise. My skis were in Twisp, but I had a pair of super fat Paxel’s with skins I needed to duct tape on. I now have a ski cabin just 6 miles from Mission Ridge…I was there by 8, and there really was a bunch of snow there, and it was bluebird and calm! Felt like a foot and a half at the bottom, but never got deeper. If you know Mission, it was shallow where the black lava is, and on every ridgeline. Some spots were 5” and this did create hits even with 126 under foot…The top was windblown, and actually required me to boot up the final 100’, as it was too rocky even by my standards. The windblown skied terrible and I crashed on my first turn…A little further down it was still bad, but manageable with Northwest skills…After that it was very skiable powder, and I was able to link 12 to 25 good turns trying really hard to ride a flat ski. I will try to post pictures…Hot perfect powder to the parkinglot! If you go tomorrow it will suck, but you can get your turns.
