May 1st, we took the mayday opportunity and made beautiful turns at Heliotrope Ridge before the weather system comes. Snow at the ridge and above tree line was wind-blown-powder-ish that was able to be edged and fast turns. But wind gust was 35 mph and higher. Around the tree line was already getting creamy and grippy. Lots of side walkings and heinous pine needles infested snow was not fun, but it was all part of tour.
Thanks for the report alpinedad. Where did you hit snow on the road?
Sorry, I haven’t checked the trail report regularly. That was 2 weeks ago and I was able to park around 1.5mile to TH. Probably you can go to TH or very close to it now.
