Muir snowfield Regained !
Got a early spot and a good place to park. Chatted with Zap,Bronka ,Maureen and Darryl before starting up. Conditons on /off visibility perhaps 10" of recent and thickening snow on upper levels. The four of us were never sure how good the skiing was going to be. We watched people coming down as we were going up trying to figure it out. As it turned out it wasn't bad after you settled in on a personal style that worked. Seemed to get better at mid and lower levels. We had intended to ski the Paradise Glacier but the lower paradise valley was socked in and the good visibility was over the std route. Skied down Pan point and returned in the rain via Edith Basin. Snow levels and coverage good. Be careful on warm days as Snow has still not corned. I set off a 750 lb slush bomb on Southwest aspect near pan point.

I was wondering when the first Muir TR would show up. I'm surprised it took this long.
I toured to the back bowls and entered the 'white room'. I waited for an hour for the fog to lift but it never cleared. Retraced the ascent route and skied the slush back to Paradise. As I neared the van, the drizzle began. With the snowpack still unconsolidated, I'm heading south to Hogback and then to Mt. Hood.
Great Job... someone had to do it. Bronka! She must be about 80 years old by now.

Mej & LArry Trotter, on reflection this year's closure forced a lot of us to go explore other places. that is the upside of it. I'm in awe of the posters here and those who have came before us who have ventured out in to new terrain.

If you had Cream on your mp3 Zap, just ski through the black curtains to the station (aka sunshine). Or maybe you need some Jack Bruce performance enhancer. ;)
