May 5, 2012, Yodelin, Pleasant Surprise

Considering the NWAC special warnings/watches and winter-like weather over the previous several days,  opted for this tried & true venue (which I generally reserve for more mid-winter trips) not really having much in the way of high expectations. Susan & I made 4 runs from various points along the ridge bewteen HWY 2 and the Mill Creek drainage from just above "the burn" to ca. 3/4 mi. out. Snow was generally quite good with varying degrees of fresh coverage from "dust-on-crust" to 2" - 4" of fresh pow over a kevlar base. Besides the relatively good snow conditions, we were also quite surprised that we were the only skiers out of Yodelin.
