May 3,4, 2006, Mt. McCausland 5747'

Great skiing on Mt. McCasland. As usual this time of year, it helps to travel early in the day. Lot's of snow even at the start of the road. Had to park at the winter pullout a short distance east in fact. Here's a pic from the top, looking at Lichtenberg Mt. The summit is beyond the spire.  Although I had the place to myself Tuesday - Wednesday, there were a modest number of ski tracks of various ages, so the area is being used.



The only bummer was the fresh snow machine tracks, perhaps from this last Sunday or Monday ascending to the saddle overlooking Lake Valhalla and on from there, even deeper into the H M Jackson Wilderness, as well as a fair amount of high marking on one of the avalanche chutes off Lichtenberg. Whether skiers crossed paths with snow machines last weekend, I don't know.
