The road is gated at (or near) mile post 21, due to a washout about a mile or so further up. We weren't able to skin until about 4700'. Climbed up to around 5400' and set up camp. The snow was really wet and melting fast due to the high temps. Loud avalanches fell almost constantly off Johannisburg. We skinned up to the Quien Sabe Glacier where lot's of water/snow/debris/avalanches were coming down off all the steep rock near Boston Peak and Sahale. With clouds moving in and so much instability we stopped at about 7500' and skied down in the wet mush snow, it was slow and small slides were easily triggered. Only saw two other people heading to climb forbidden. Awesome views and intense terrain.
