Dave ,Jeff and I having our big weekend plans shut down in the North Cascades opted for the Tatoosh. First off the Stevens canyon road is still closed and according to the entrance ranger  it might be another two weeks. Streams and rivers are swollen. It looks like it is still posible to ski the nisqually to the bridge but rushing water might make that problemmatic.  We were very surprised by the snow quality on North facing slopes. 1-3 " boot penatration and very little ski penatration. Skiing was good soft corn a bit sticky in flattish spots. 30 degrees or better whoopie! We spent all our time on north facing and skied east of Castle. With a nice breeze blowing all day we were invigerated and booted up for last run in that little gulley to the east. Finally skied down to Reflection and picked up the mini cooler with the refreshments for the walk out. Road is clear and gated and no hassle about parking at the y. For fans of Unicorn Also note that Unicorn is still skiable from summit area
funny, we were thinking about heading up there too, but settled on Crystal and the shorter drive. Looks good up there, even without powder. ;)
