After a half assed day of local craging it was time to fight the vacation eyes and hit the Bell! .... Or get a lazy start... By 2:30pm we were under way skinning up to the Becky Route on the Liberty Bell under ominous skies. Two hours later we ( Utah boys Adam and John) were atop the Coleman-Liberty saddle debating weather it was a good idea to continue. Ten minutes later, after actually finding the route, we were on route with relatively stable, dark, misty clouds piling into us. By 7:00pm and 4 pitches of 5.6 later we were on the summit ready for rappell and ski. The views from the summit were surreal with front row seats of Cascadian weather contorting around the Early Winters Spires, the scene was truely unique. Once back at the saddle we put on our cold-ass boots and got ready to ski. Heres where the time of day bit us in the ass- by 8:00pm the 45 deg. 1500' vert. couloir had frozen solid and made the skiing very spicy. Overall it didnt matter but the death slide potential was past high. What a route!
