Wayne, Victor and I decided to go east for some Spring corn skiing and headed up the North Fork Teanaway River to check out conditions around Mt. Stuart.
On the ride over we were entertained with stories of The Pickets Traverses and Mongo Ridge narrated by Wayne Wallace, chronicles of his recent climbing triumphs.
At 29 Pines Campground we began skinning roughly 5 miles to the base of Iron Peak at Beverly and Bean Creeks. We gained the ridge in short time, elated to be going up after a long insipid tour on the road.
Finally, into our view came Mt. Stuart and Sherpa Peak under brilliant blue skies. In delight we stopped to break and take photos.
We made our way over occasional cornices and rock outcroppings that briefly required hand over feet climbing. Wayne enjoyed this in his climbing boots, which he later impressively skied in with style!
Sun cast slopes made for fantastic corn skiing down to the road. From there, we glided, skated and pushed our way along the miles of road, at times racing each-other like 10-year olds, until fatigue silenced our laughter, as we made our way back to the vehicle. It was a great day with many smiles.

I bet the slopes were fun - it's always looked likely to be nice when I've hiked it, but have only skied later in the year when it was only skiable into the upper Beverly Creek Basin. I'm too lazy for that road approach now (I expected to see a snowmobile involved in the report when I opened it). Well done!
Nice trip.
