Did a short  trip up to the ridge at Yodelin today with my dog. Conditions started out kinda sucky above the parking lot. Really wind/rain/sun crusty. So I traversed around to the east past the old lift base to where it opens up on the north exposure where the snow was nice and soft on top of last weeks rain crust. Then up the  edge of the trees  to the open area towards the ridge. I dug a pit and found it really consolidated. I couldn't get a shear except for the top 4" sliding on the rain crust. It seems like the next dump is going to be a bit iffy on top of that rain crust until it can get a bond.
The snow  is perfect for igloo blocks! ;-) I continued up to the ridge and had some great turns all the way back down. Had to really watch the exposure to stay out of the breakable crud.
Thanks to 'Weekend Climber' for the great beta last week.
