A quick report on Sasse Ridge, probably outdated even now. Arrived Wednesday just behind the snowplow, with 8 inches new at the parking area (2350'). By the time I got to 3000' I was sinking in to mid-calf in heavy snow. A bit later it was literally knee deep in spots. At my 3500' campsite the depth was ~27 inches, on an area that was bare ground last week. Tough trip in; haven't had to do that in a while.
Temp down to 18 deg. overnight, but only a 1/2 inch freeze; not enough to support my weight Thursday morning. Warm afternoon temps both days rapidly consolidated the snow. On the way out the skis were back on the surface below 2800'. No slides on Red Mtn. Sasse Mtn. or Davis Peak that I could see from my vantage point, but with the exception of the talus slope below Sasse Mtn., that would be fairly rare in any case.
