Andy, Josh, and I made a quick skin up Muir and cut over to the entrance of Nisqually Chute.  For all three of us this was an epic first decent.  To our good fortune the top 12-16 inches of new snow that fell two days ago was well bonded to the varying crust below it.  Additionally Nisqually Chute proper was not affected by wind.  Snow was dense and deep but very predictable for some all around fun turns.  Skied with no problems on the glacier and river to the bridge.  Coverage excellent, the ski was easy.  We were all recounting over and over again how great the weather turned out being for this trip!  Enjoy the video and pics!!!

Nice vid and pics Savegondor. We didn't drop the chute but from the base of Pan Point where the summer trail cuts up throught the rocks. Those where our tracks ahead of you as we where the first down that morning. Nice job on getting the chute aswell. ;D It looked delicious.

Our group hithced back up and then went over to Mazama bowl for more powder.

In nearly 5 years of skiing at Paradise, that was one of the best days I have ever had as regards snow quality and stabilty. Not much wind affect and a rare treat.

Nice work Jayme!

Nice to meet you Jayme.

Josh and I also enjoyed a nice run down the chute.  We were the second party down the chute, a pair of two skiers went before us.  The very first turn in the chute proper was a bit icy.  Then nice powdery and buttery goodness until just below the final drop to the creek bed on the Nisqually glacier snout.  From there is was heavy, grabby, nastiness.  As opposed to previous trips Josh and I followed the two skiers tracks as they shot across the glacier and descended the skiers right. This was a much preferable descent for the snowboards as it didn't require any board removal or pedaling.  I really do love this run!

Yes, epic day.  Also learned, and perhaps I knew this, that thumbing it up to Paradise is illegal in the Park.  So be careful all!  We may need to coordinate with each other to for shuttling.
