Not wanting to risk a week's worth of spring break ski potential on a funky forecast, Alli and I headed over to Washington Pass. Turns out the approach makes a whole crap ton more sense on a snowmobile but we still got more than our fair share of long powder runs and impeccable weather. Runs skied included Half Moon on the south end of Kangaroo, and runs from the spires down towards the hair pin and blue lake.

Snow was fresh and firmly bonded to a rounded base on N aspects while S facing runs were not quite as fresh and had a crust underneath. What a tough choice... Got an ECT score of 20 about 7 inches down with no propagation on a NW slope. No failure on the crust.

Anyone have any beta on skiing the couloir off of liberty bell? How steep/does the choke towards the bottom go?
Great TR and my favourite place but a little confused by your TR. Did you hike in from Mazama or take a snowmobile and did you camp  or was it a day trip? Just asking because I want to do it .
Any beta would be appreciated.
Thanks

We skinned in and camped in the trees just off of the hairpin. Alli got some really nasty blisters so we were able to catch a ride with a couple of snowmobilers on the way out.

If you could get access to sleds I would highly recommend it as it takes less than a half hour as opposed to several. That said, especially on week days even with a few sledders you more or less have the place to yourself.

Hope that helps

Oh right, and the skin in was about 14 miles starting a mile outside of mazama. Pretty flat and while I didn't because I was borrowing a friend's skis I would highly recommend using kickwax

14 miles eh.?that's getting after it. I am impressed.
Thanks for the information.
