Skied up Granite Peak yesterday via the main South gulley towards the summit. 6-8 inches of new snow higher up in the gulley over the corn slush. Classic concrete made for decent but slowish turns. Whiteout conditions mixed with very short periods of sun.
Slab potential up high with the new snow, indicated by whumphing and not a quite bonded interface between new and old, give it time. Bad trail trying to navigate around the waterfall to the left. Put in a new steep skin track through the trees. Would be better to take skis off and climb up the left side of the waterfall for easier access to the gulley above.
Classic Cascade conditions.
