Randy B and I left the small plowed lot for the PCT on Alpental Road @ 7:30 a.m.
Headed up Commonwealth Basin and it's pine needle covered, snowshoe track trodden trail.
Made our way up the left side towards the left skyline of Red and started booting as it got steadily steeper.
Good snow and previous steps from the weekend made the going much better than it might have been.

Came out of trees and the last few pitches of steep snow. I stayed back for the final 400' or so (no ice axe or whippet) and Randy headed a few hundred feet above me. I waited for Randy until he skied back down to me. I finally locked in and had some fun turns. We went skiers right and hit a few steeper sections, crossed an avy path and then shralped another steep open slope, jibbed a few tree rails and then plowed past the timber.

Missed our original route on the way up, so we decided to cross the creek by way of a fallen log. This turned out to be a little more sketch than it appeared, but made the day much more exciting.

Saw only 2 others (snowshooers) on the trail, and Randy sprayed them on the way down.
Back to the car @ 12:30. Fun day.

I hope this was a legal tour?
Love the POV image crossing the log Scott!

Thanks Roger. That was actually the sketchiest part of the entire trip. When I went to try and huck my skis across the other side, I realized I could use them to balance instead :-)
