Feeling fat and slow, so calisthenics on the Snowfield it was.

Out of the lot ~9am, skinning with the 70mm rando-race skis. Softish low, but great up high. Opted for the promontory to the right of the Camp. Fine corn just after noon on the upper snowfield, tailgrabbing goo near Pan Point.

Out of the lot again ~1:20 pm, with the 105 mm clownshoes. Sloppy skinning until Pebble Creek, then just soft up to a slow arrival at Camp ~5:45pm. The down was unexpectedly good; sticky to be sure, but consistent and smooth.

~3pm, saw a soloist lay nice tracks in the Chute.

Simultaneously, a group descending from the upper mountain got cliffed alongside the Wilson. I include the photo because I've heard/read stories of other groups making a similar error. They climbed up and descended the glacier to lookers right.

Lots of snow!
A couple more pics of the cliffed-out group.

I think we ran into you in the flats above Paradise. I was with Hannah.

OK guys,

We were not THAT cliffed out. We were just doing a bit of route finding. I'm starting to feel like nothing in the mountains is un-observed anymore.

I'm glad we could provide some diversion to the amazing line of people filing up to Muir.

And I couldn't believe the number of people on the Kautz route.

I agree, especially seeing CascadeClimber's photos; I'd thought you were on a much steeper slope.

The lower Nisqually was overrun by multiple mountaineering classes and their encampments. We saw only one party going up the Kautz on Sunday morning.

One of the three(?) groups...

Charlie,

It is, however, a pretty cool photo. What camera are you lugging with you on your laps up Muir?

It's a Pentax W90, optics aren't top-notch, but it's light and waterproof. Send a PM if you'd like the full resolution images!
