Started at the lower parking lot. Traversed under Yakima Peak , across the foot bridge and proceded around the north west side. Into the bowl. My objective was to climb Naches Peak from a side I haven't done before.
As I proceeded into the bowl, to my surprise, the higher I got the more I sunk in. I got below the lst chute to the top, and decided to abort. I didn't like the way things were shaping up. Lots of wet slides. Sinking deeper. I stopped and put the skins away and skiied down.
The basket on my pole popped off, the winds picked up and a lenticular cloud quickly formed over Rainier. All signs that told me , time to get out of here. When bad feelings arise. I bail.
The ski down was soft, smooth turns with a few slippy slides. Tons of fun.
