June 5, 2010, Mt Rainier, Camp Muir

Beautiful, bluebird day on the mountain, although increasing wind at Camp Muir.  The boarding on the snow field was just gorgeous and our only regret was not skinning back up to do it again!  The snow below about 8,000 ft warmed quickly in the early afternoon and got pretty sticky -- felt like the skins were still on!  The mountain was pretty crowded (below) and lots of info bits were being exchanged about the Ingram avalanche this morning -- quite sad to see the helicopters flying in and out, still looking for the missing person.  Each time one left, I hoped the person had been found, but then it would circle back for another look...
