Knowing after Friday's trip that conditions were good, Joel and I returned early Saturday morning to take advantage of the easy access.
The snow had firmed up nicely overnight and the clouds were helping to slow the effects of the sun early on. Our original plan was to hoof it up to Fremont to see if the bowl there held snow, but we elected to enjoy a couple of the drops off the N. side of Sourdough ridge instead. We were pleasantly surprised to find lines that had not been skied yet, with good conditions.
Instead of Fremont, we climbed up to 1st Burroughs and skied the east facing slopes visible from Sunrise, and were able to piece together a nice run all the way down to the road to just above Shadow Lake on some of the best snow of the day. The access road made for an easy walk back to the parking lot.
Unfortunately we had to get down the hill and the Chutefest BBQ's weren't staffed yet. Maybe next year!
