Lured by sunshine and recent spring temps, we headed to Granite to have a look at sun exposed terrain. Granite west bowl and Granite West south slopes were pool table smooth, and just as firm. E/SE wind kept things cold all day long and despite direct sun, never corned up at the higher elevations. Waited til 1400 and skied down very firm snow to 4k where things began to soften up in the trees. Snow line around 3.5k, some moderate alder schwacking for a few hundred feet but otherwise easy travel by foot. Minimal runneling on south and west moderately angled terrain however steep north aspects were more affected. Steep terrain on the south end of the west aspect of Granite had old debris, otherwise zero avalanche activity or concern to speak of.
Helpful report.
Thanks.
