January 2, 2011, Arrowhead

Headed out to Arrowhead today.  We  followed the skin track left from jan 30th since none of us had been here in the recent past and we knew splitter had at least made it to the summit. Aside from the 1 adventurous spot it moved rather quickly.  Another party put up a new track traversing the slopes to the summit afterwards.  There was a significant inversion, 6 degrees at 8:30 at the cars and much much warmer on the sumit.  Snow up top was getting a little warm with the inversion and sun.  This made for a very smooth and creamy ride.  But everything felt very stable all along.  We did make the mistake of cutting 1 to many switchbacks and fought quite a bit of brush to get up.  Took about 5.5 hours round trip.

The skin track where the logging road ends does get adventurous and I might recommend the next folks make there own around that short section.  Also there was some significant surface hoar on select slopes.
