Spent the day out brushing up on avalanche safety (safe travel + transceiver rescue) up at stevens pass, for those of you that don't know BCA has installed a mighty neat-o transceiver course that may be used for transceiver rescue practice if you check in with ski patrol beforehand.
Afterwards we did a short tour over at yodelin. We dug a few hasty pits on west, south, and east aspects finding consistent conditions on all...1-2" of fresh atop a very consolidated snowpack that had three layers that shore very cleanly at about 1.5 ', 3', & 5' but not without a bunch of effort. The turns were pleasant and very fast with the fresh atop the non-breakable icy snowpack.
