Ventured to the top of the Kendall trees (4900') from Commonwealth today. Graupel-like new snow on top of bullet proof hard pack. 3-4 inches of new stuff in shaded areas and 6-8 inches of new stuff in open areas. The new stuff is so light that it doesn't provide much resistance to my 95 mm underfoot skis and I frequently hit the hard pack below. Above the trees looked deeper, but I was solo so didn't care to indulge (although I didn't see any obvious signs of wind slab).
