Hogsback Ridge with Cowboy Mtn in the BackgroundWe arrived at 10:30am at 4000’ at Stevens. Most lots were “coned off”, but a few vehicles were parked in Lot A. Numerous signs on the stairs, but some other people were heading into the ski area. The coverage was good. We looked at the snow along the Showcase trail from the top of the Kehr’s chair and decided to pass on this climb.
We headed up the Rock ‘n Blue trail towards the Hogsback chair where there was excellent coverage. Yes, it was warm but the snowpack had consolidated and was in great shape. At the top of the chair we looked up at the cornice ridge of Cowboy Mtn. Great coverage at Rockgarden and Cloud 9 trails.
Skiing down was excellent around 2pm with the temperature in the 60’s. We were pleasantly surprised that we only saw two other people in the area where we were climbing/skiing – and we kept a ‘social distance’. This was Jill's first day since the "home " event. It is great to "skin up" and ski down. Being in our mid 70's, it is still wonderful.😀
