Hogback, White Pass, Gunsight....Northside Couloir

I skied with my 3-year old today, and then left him in daycare and took off for Gunsight.  Gunsight is a large rocky feature just to the East of the terminus of the new Chair 5 in the White Pass expansion area.  I skinned up the ridge, taking pics along the way.  I had always dreamed of skiing from as close to the top as possible, and as I got closer, I realized that it is not only nearly possible, but that the couloir off the top is amazing!

The snow was highly variable, some wind-crust, some powder, and lots of former evidence of warm-snow loose debris from previous days. 

I love this area, and I've only skied a very small amount of what it has to offer.  And beginning next year, it's all only a 5-10 minute bootpack away from the lift, and a SAR mission to get out!
