Not a creative outing, but avoided the rain, got above the clouds, and got some freshies!

We went up to around 8900' after staring to weave through spots of ice and then chatting with someone coming down who had turned around at around 9k' due to ice. We decided to do the same... we were able to mostly stay on supportive crust, dodge the areas of breakable crust, enjoy a handful of great corn-feeling turns, then lower down it was very sticky hot pow. All in all around 1700' of skiing -- a great day out!

Skinning felt very, very good

Yipee!

Thanks for the great trip report, Alisse! I think that knowing where to go and then doing it in October are plenty creative! Let's face it, options are quite limited. I've been dreading going up Thursday for my least favorite ski month, now I am quite excited 😁

Have fun! If it's not windy, and fully sunny, could you possibly get some kind of corn?! Please report back :)
