Mike and I only had a few hours this afternoon, so we headed up to Kendall Stump to see if we could find some good corn on the south face. The hard crust in the trees at the bottom soon gave way to great feeling corn in the old clear cut. The trees are really getting big and dense at the bottom. It is not an issue in big snow years, but this is certainly not one of those. It was really warm in the sun. We were on the climb around 2:00 pm and it felt much more like May than February. There was still a bit of powder lingering on the east facing slope near the summit. It was nice, but at only half an inch deep we decided the steeper south facing corn seemed the more appealing choice. The corn was as good as expected. The open slope right at the summit held the best skiing, but the whole run was great.

There are some thin spots, but only a few and they add to the interest.

All in all a great way to spend a couple hours on a sunny Saturday.
