Mountaineers trip. I decided on the Near E side hoping for better visibility, drier snow, more stability, etc. Unfortunately the visibility was disappointing (fog, flat light). There was 6 inches of new, well bonded to a firm, icy crust. Depth measured only ~44 inches at 4800'. No precipitation, wind, or avalanche activity. Few snowmobiliers (Super Bowl). Road to Jolly Mtn. sno-park was not plowed (4WD has its place) and the sno-park was a slushy pond (we parked above it).
