Janitha and I met in Burlington at 7 to go check out Razorback mountain out by Marblemount. Found the logging road but was decidedly gated. Road conditions on the forest service website said Cascade River road was closed but we decided to go check it out anyway. There were several places where a lot of earth and timber had made it across the road but has since been cleared (sign remains that the road is closed but I dont see why). We were able to drive to about 2500ft where we took the snowmobile to the trail head. The forest section was near boiler plate rain crust until you get out in the drainage. It was partly sunny and we skinned to about 6000ft when we were engulfed by clouds. With poor visibility we followed our skin track back out. Snow was grabby, heavy, with a very frustrating crust. Once back in the woods, we survival skied back to the trail head. A good time was had despite the snow in one of my favorite places. In my haste to pack I forgot the camera but perhaps Janitha can post a picture or two.
